More Rain in Hyderabad, Yellow Alert Issued

The city has been experiencing pleasant and breezy weather following heavy rains. Cloudy skies and scattered showers characterized Thursday’s weather.

A Heavy rain alert was also issued on Thursday by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation’s Enforcement, Vigilance and Disaster Management (EVDM)

In Patancheru, the maximum rainfall was 27.5 mm until 4 p.m. Other areas, such as Serilingampally, Kukatpally, and Quthbullapur, also experienced light to moderate rain.

Hyderabad has received 120.1 mm of rain in the last seven days, and the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS) predicts moderate to heavy rains at isolated places in the city in the next three days. The maximum temperature in the city would be around 30 degrees Celsius to 33 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature would range between 22 degrees Celsius and 25 degrees Celsius.

There is a three-day yellow weather warning starting July 29 for several districts in Telangana from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Hyderabad.

Most localities of Hyderabad will receive rainfall between 15.6 mm and 64.5 mm until Saturday morning, according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society. There are still some areas that may see between 64.5 mm and 115.6 mm of rain, including Khairtabad, Amberpet, Begumpet, and Musarambagh.

Mayor to officials: Take necessary measures

The Mayor of the GHMC Vijaya Laxmi instructed the GHMC officials to take all necessary steps to ensure the citizens did not suffer hardships because of the incessant rain that has lashed the city for the past four days.

After reviewing rain-related initiatives with the zonal commissioners, the Mayor asked officials to intensify relief efforts. Other instructions included removing garbage from nalas and manholes, clearing water stagnations, and ensuring rain runoff is smooth.
