NABARD sanctions Rs 465.29 crore to AP

Hyderabad: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned Rs 465.29 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund as loan assistance for development and widening of 42 Rural Roads, providing assured drinking water supply to over 700 tribal habitations and implementation of 19 new Lift irrigation Schemes. These projects were sanctioned by the Project Sanctioning Committee of NABARD in the meeting held on August 20.
While Rs 109.44 crore has been sanctioned for upgrading 42 rural roads to allweather BT roads in 9 districts, Rs 230.80 crore has been sanctioned as loan assistance for 582 water supply projects in 12 districts. An amount of Rs.125.03 crore has been sanctioned for the Lift irrigation schemes to be implemented in 11 districts.
The sanctioned road projects are expected to lead to improved connectivity over 167 Km providing benefit to 204 villages and over 7 lakh rural population. The roads on completion will also provide improved connectivity for farmers in villages to 77 market yards. The Drinking Water Supply projects are designed to provide minimum 70 LPCD in the tribal hamlets where they will be implemented. The Lift Irrigation projects are envisaged to provide additional irrigation potential of nearly 8100 hectares. With these, the total support under RIDF to Govt. of Andhra Pradesh during the current financial year has gone up to Rs 945.26 crore. (NSS)
