NCM Member Reviews Minority Welfare Schemes

In a meeting with minority welfare authorities in Hyderabad, Syeda Shahzadi Begum, a member of the National Commission for Minorities (NCM), recently performed a detailed review of the implementation of central government schemes for minorities. Representatives from numerous departments and groups interested in minority welfare efforts attended the meeting.

Syed Omar Jaleel, Secretary of Minority Welfare, delivered extensive information on the implementation of central government initiatives and budget allocations during the meeting. They reviewed current central government-funded residential school building development projects, as well as the increased performance of minority residential schools and minority students in competitive examinations.

Syeda Shahzadi Begum, on the other hand, expressed her discontent with the absence of B. Shafiullah, Secretary of the Residential School Society, which raised questions about openness and accountability in residential school matters. She stated that appointments and maintenance issues in these schools have been received and must be addressed.

The Telangana Waqf Board’s performance in defending waqf properties was also scrutinized. Syeda Shahzadi Begum encouraged the board to take action against unauthorized waqf property tenants and underlined the significance of updating waqf land data on the Dharani portal. To expedite the registration procedure for non-waqf land, this update should reflect the exact acreage of auto-locked properties.

The gathering also discussed the Telangana Waqf Board’s computerization and digitization of property data. The agenda also included a review of programs aimed at the educational development of minorities.

Shahzadi Begum, also expressed regret about the absence of some officials from the invited departments, expressing her concern about the amount of commitment to the implementation of minority welfare initiatives. She emphasized the significance of holding district-level meetings with collectors to ensure proper coordination and implementation of the schemes. This move may assist address the issues and assure improved outcomes in the state’s minority welfare projects.
