‘New Secretariat & Assembly buildings a ploy to divert people’s attention’

Hyderabad: Congress MLC T. Jeevan Reddy on Monday alleged that the State government was bringing the issues like construction of new Secretariat and Assembly buildings complexes to divert the attention of the people from burning public problems.

Speaking to mediapersons here today, Jeevan Reddy said different blocks of Secretariat like Samatha block, D block, H block were built to last for 100 years. He alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao was trying to build another Secretariat to get name for the same. He said he had filed a writ petition in High court in 2016  urging the court to stop demolition of the secretariat complex.

He claimed that the Advocate General of the State had informed the Court that they would demolish the Secretariat complex. He warned the State government that it would be construed as contempt of court if it went ahead with its decision on the demolition of the complex. He also asked the State government as to why it was going ahead with its decision of shifting even the State assembly.

He warned the State government that the traffic problem would turn worse if the Assembly complex was constructed at Erra Manzil. Noting that the statement of KCR that one lakh Government jobs are vacant in the State, he said that only 20,000 jobs were filled by the CM during the last five years. He said the State still had one lakh more jobs vacant. (NSS)
