New software to help officials weed out bogus voters

Hyderabad: Chief Electoral Officer Rajat Kumar said ERO-Net2.0 version will help the officials and staff to deal with inaccuracies in voter related information and also prevent proliferation of duplicate cards and so on. The software will allow officials to discern whether the person they are enrolling in the voter list is a first timer or someone else who has registered multiple times across the State, he said. Rajat Kumar said the Election Commission of India has given certain instructions and guidelines to all the Electoral Officers to impart training to the IT support staff along with the connected officials to conduct workshop.

To this effect, Rajat Kumar along with M. Dana Kishore, District Electoral Officer and Commissioner, GHMC participated in the workshop for imparting two-day training to Deputy Tahsildars, Data Entry Operators along with connected staff of Election department and interacted with them and explained about the working of the ERO-net2.0 version, its advantages and process of working in a more appropriate way to derive good results to have cent percent revision of electoral rolls with clear transparency.

As per the schedule of the Election Commission of India, by January 1 the summary revision of electoral rolls have to be completed. So far, the Telangana State completed summary revision of electoral rolls twice, the ERO-net2.0 version to strengthen the existing system. The software will help the officials for taking up electoral rolls with clear transparency. The CEO also said draft summary revision of electoral rolls was released on September 1 and claims and objections, if any, the voters can contact their EROs concerned for further information.

The workshop for training was for two days i.e. on September 4 and 5 at GHMC Head Office as per the directions of the CEO. (NSS)
