Official panel to study the status of land in Miyapur, according to the Telangana High Court

Telangana High Court ordered the state government to form a committee consisting of officials of the GHMC, representatives of the petitioner, and revenue authorities to assess the status of the lands in Miyapur.

A single-judge bench of the High Court directed the State government to form within 30 days a committee with officials of the GHMC, representatives of the petitioner, and revenue authorities, to determine the status of the land and measure the open spaces.

The petition was filed by the Mayuri Nagar Welfare Association, Miyapur (Ranga Reddy district), and four others seeking permission to declare the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA)’s proposal to sell components of the Miyapur residential complex earmarked as open areas and amenities in the approved layout plan.

Petitioners urged the court that the HMDA’s proposal to sell parcels/open plots/stray bits by E-auction-cum-E-tender in a notice dated March 19, 2018, referred to at serial no 840 plots, violates Articles 14, 21, and 300A of the Constitution and violates natural justice principles.

It was important to them that the HC set aside the same and instruct the government and the concerned authorities not to alienate the common areas in the layout. In order to assess whether there are more than 10% of open areas left after auctioning certain areas, she directs the HMDA and GHMC to form a committee comprising petitioners, Miyapur Mayuri Nagar Welfare Association, and Revenue authorities.

Secunderabad foot-over bridge case heard by Telangana High Court

A foot over bridge at Mahendra Hills, Secunderabad, was heard inconclusively on Monday by the Telangana High Court by Justice Radha Rani of the Telangana High Court.

In this case, Balajee Arun Educational Society filed a petition with the judge. There was an allegation in the petition that the GHMC refused to grant permission for the bridge between the Delhi Public School and the New Delhi Airport.

It was emphasized by the petitioner that the construction of the bridge would not only benefit students but would also benefit general society.

The GHMC’s lawyer Chatla Madhu pointed out that any construction/erection of any structure on Cantonment Land is unlawful. Additionally, he pointed out that on the boarding and deboarding sides of the bridge, the petitioner society erected compound walls that prevented the general public from using the bridge.

According to him, the GHMC has no objection if the petitioner comes up with a new construction plan useful to the public. A hearing will be held on July 11 by the judge.
