Onions to be sold against Aadhar in Rythu Bazar

Hyderabad: As the first quality onion price increased from Rs 4,000 per quintal to Rs 8,000 and the second quality from Rs 3,000  to Rs 6,000 per quintal from November 18, the State government, in order to stabilize prices in the market, has decided to supply onion at Rs 40 per kg, irrespective of open market price, which the traders agreed. The transportation and Hamali charges to traders will be borne by the Marketing Department.

According to the Agriculture Market, the State government initially decided to supply onions to two Rythu Bazaars i.e. Saroor Nagar and Mehdipatnam at the rate of two metric tons each from November 27. After observing the response and demand, it will be extended to other Rythu Bazaars in the Twin Cities. Onions will be supplied to consumers through a separate stall by restricting the quantity to one kilogram per head after seeing the Aadhar card. The onion will be sold from 4 pm to 7 pm daily.
