Rachakonda police, along with the LB Nagar Zone special operations team, carried out a raid over Janapriya Homes, Green Hills Colony, Chaitanyapuri, and busted an illegal horse betting racket organized through the Turf Line WhatsApp group, and arrested two people.
Police seized net cash of Rs. 3,00,000 and a frozen amount of Rs. 7,20,000 from Bujji Vinod Kumar’s (accused) bank account, as well as three mobile phones, two laptops, and other incriminating material from their possession. According to a press release, the total value of the seized property was around Rs 11,50,000.
Bujji Vinod Kumar, the accused, is said to be a resident of Jana Priya Homes, Green Hills Colony, Kothapet, Chaitanyapuri, Ranga Reddy District. According to the police, he is the main organizer who devised a plan to make easy and illegal money by running illegal horse bettings.
Bujji Vinod Kumar began unauthorized horse race betting with punters from his house in a WhatsApp group called ‘Turf Line.’ He began illegal horse race betting through known and unknown punters in Hyderabad and other cities by using technology and copying/pasting screenshots into WhatsApp groups.
They used to send screenshots of the Bet365 app to WhatsApp groups and collect money through online apps like Phone Pay and Google Pay, as well as online transactions to the bank account of Bujji Vinod Kumar and Sai Kumar, the police reported.
Adesh Singh, the main bookie, used to provide the betting ratios to Bujji Vinod Kumar and receives his share amount at a 5 percent profit based on bet the amounts.
Betting outside of a racecourse’s premises is considered illegal. The Respondents were discovered to be accepting bets from people over the phone and online in order to cheat the common people.
