Hyderabad: Oppressive heat wave conditions have claimed 16 lives in a single day in Telangana State. Mostly, senior citizens and infants are suffering a lot due to sunstroke. In most of the tanks in the city as well as in rural areas, water was boiling due to high temperatures.
The unprecedented hot spell and temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius led to mounting casualties among livestock as well as humans in Telangana. The bird mortality rate which remains 2 to 3 percent during every summer has risen to 10 percent this month. The temperatures are crossing 46 degrees Celcius in most parts of Telangana.
The Met officials asked people not to come out of their houses from 10 to 6 pm. They also warned that the temperatures are going to soar in the next one week.
