Osmania University UG exams to be held in June second week, PG to follow

Hyderabad: The Osmania University is discussing its plan to conduct undergraduate exams from the second week of June. The exam branch of the university will be releasing the notice pertaining to this within the next 2-3 days.

These exams are expected to continue till the end of July starting from June second week. Postgraduate exam dates of the students of OU are also under review and will possibly be announced in the second week of July, according to the administration of OU.

Due to the number of working days affected by the lockdown as a measure to reduce the cases of coronavirus, the varsity might also hold exams on Sundays. This, however, would be governed by the decisions imposed by the Centre and State for the lockdown.

Masters and backlog exams for undergraduate students are also scheduled for the second week of June. Exams for PG students will commence after the end of the major UG exams. Intimidation for the degree exams will be given in two to three days, said the OU controller of exams, Dr. Sriram Venkatesh.

He said the varsity has for many years maintained physical distance in conduct exams. “During the exams we are already maintaining a one-meter physical distance between students. If the need arises, we will increase the number of centers and ensure that in the examination halls more physical distance is practiced,” said Sriram Venkatesh.

For the interim, the schedule of summer vacation has been changed for the post graduate courses. These students are now given holidays from May 11 to June 7. They had previously been expected to be from June 1st to June 30th, as given in the directory. The vacation is applicable for PG programs like MA, MSc, MCom, MSW, MCJ, MLibISc, MPEd, MBA etc.

The preponing of holidays was brought in view of the days already lost due to coronavirus and the nationwide lockdown. Due to the extension of the lockdown until May 29, the OU decided to re-schedule the holiday in a recent meeting of deans of faculties, principals and other officials.
