Over 1,000 revamped govt schools scheduled to open soon under Mana Ooru Mana Badi

Over 1,000 Government and Local Body Schools students can look forward to starting the new academic year in a new setting. Thanks to the State government’s Mana Ooru – Mana Badi / Mana Basti – Mana Badi initiative, which is renovating infrastructure and other facilities in government schools.

While over 700 revamped schools were launched in February of this year, over 1,000 schools will be inaugurated by their respective public representatives as part of the State’s decennial celebrations, which will begin on June 2. In terms of teaching and infrastructure, these renovated schools will be on par with private and corporate schools.

Previously, the State government launched an initiative to upgrade infrastructure in 26,072 government and local body schools 12 components in a phased manner and for first phase selected 9,123 schools for works at an estimated cost of Rs 3,497.62 crore.

Toilets with running water, electrification, drinking water supply, furniture, painting of entire schools, green chalkboard, new classrooms in place of dilapidated ones, and dining halls in high schools are among the components.

The government also prioritized digital education, and high schools received 13,983 interactive flat panels that function as mini-computers.

The interactive flat panels can be used for online interactive sessions with subject experts in addition to being used as a regular black board for teaching and screening audio-video content. In addition, 20,000 tablet PCs have been distributed to schools, which will be used to track student and teacher attendance as well as academic performance beginning with the upcoming academic year.

A total of 1,521 government and local government schools have been converted into power houses, with solar photovoltaic power plants installed on school grounds. The government has also focused on developing curriculum in collaboration with the Tata Institute of Social Sciences to facilitate digital teaching, and 2,000 schools have computer labs.
