Paddy purchase: MP says farmers yet to get money from govt

Hyderabad: Congress MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Tuesday demanded that the State government immediately release the money to farmers, who have sold their produce of the Rabi season. He said the farmers were facing a lot of problems due to the non-release of the money even after buying their produce.

Speaking to media persons, Venkat Reddy said some 6.25 lakh farmers had sold their produce to the State government and over 3.5 lakh farmers were not paid so far. The State government owed Rs 1,900 crore to the 3.5 lakh farmers, he said, adding that it didn’t make payments even after promising it within three days of the purchase of their produce. He asked the State government as to how the farmers should go for cultivation for the Kharif season without money in their hands. He demanded that the State government make the payment within the next four days and help them. He said the farmers, who feed the people shouldn’t be troubled by the State government. (NSS)
