Parameshwaran appreciates ODF in TS

Hyderabad: Parameshwaran Iyer, Secretary, Union Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) today appreciated the state government for its efforts for achieving better results in open defecation free (ODF) program.

Parameshwaran Iyer called on Telangana Chief Secretary SK Joshi at Secretariat and attended a review meeting later with the Collectors on ODF program and other development programs. Speaking on the occasion, Parameshwaran said the new State was able to achieve significant results in ODF program.

Telangana Government was showing off phenomenal skills in the Swachch Sarvekshan program and achieved 86 per cent so far. He also hoped that with the same spirit, the district Collectors will achieve the total target of 100 per cent ODF by October 2. The Centre will sanction necessary funds for construction of individual toilets. So far 12 districts have achieved the targets in this regards and the remaining 18 districts will follow suit in three to four months, Parameshwaran said.

Joshi, who chaired the meeting, directed the Collectors, who are lagging behind in this task, should focus to complete it. Joshi appreciated AEOs and other staff for better distribution of Rythu Bandhu Scheme (RBS) Cheques through field level works. He also instructed the state level officials get complete details of developmental programs. The Collectors were asked to update and conduct basic survey on the use the gadgets like tablets, i-Pods and address related issues. They were instructed to focus on flagship programs, marriage, welfare, education and health and others at rural level and improve standards. (NSS)
