Hyderabad: A family picnic at Nehru Zoological Park ended in a tragedy after two-year-old boy was hit by a vehicle in the zoo premises. A resident of Vidyanagar, Mohd Omer Siddiqui, went to the zoo park with his family on Tuesday. The boy was playing in the zoo park when a battery operated vehicle hit him in the afternoon and he succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident.
The injured child was rushed to Durru Shehvar hospital for treatment where he was declared dead. The police registered a case against the driver of the Electric vehicle and are investigating. Omer’s father who works in Saudi Arabia is said to be on way back to the city.
“While returning to the main gate after seeing the animals, the boy accompanied by his siblings, mother and few other relatives, was playing on the road near elephant enclosure when a battery operated vehicle hit him. He fell and sustained internal injuries,” said Additional Inspector Bahadurpura, A Shiva Kumar.
