Prashant Kishor likely to meet KCR on May 18

With the next Assembly elections in Telangana increasing the political heat, The political strategist Prashant Kishor is likely going to meet Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on May 18 to discuss the political situation and the strategies for the present round of Assembly polls in Telangana.

Telangana is scheduled to go to the polls at the end of next year. Prashant Kishor, who is credited with successfully handling the campaigns of several political parties in Assembly elections in different States, including YSR Congress in Andhra Pradesh, DMK in Tamil Nadu and TMC in West Bengal last year,  already met KCR a couple of times and held day-long deliberations with him.

During the meeting, Prashant Kishor indicated to the Chief Minister that his team – the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) will continue to work for the TRS till the Assembly elections next year.

At a press conference in March, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao admitted that he had engaged Prashant Kishor to assist his party in the run-up to the Telangana Assembly elections in 2023 and his plans to enter national politics.

According to sources, Prashant Kishor’s team has already conducted a sample survey in Telangana’s 119 Assembly constituencies on the party’s prospects in the next elections and handed over the list to the Chief Minister. It is said that the party’s situation in some districts is not prospective and there is huge anti-incumbency factor against several sitting MLAs in Telangana.

With opposition parties, including the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party intensifying their plan of action by conducting public meetings and taking up different protest programs against the the ruling party, the proposed meeting between Prashant Kishor and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar assumes significance in Telangana.
