Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Visit Warangal, Lay Foundation for Key Projects

On July 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Warangal District in Telangana. During his visit, he will lay the groundwork for a railway waggon overhauling facility and a gigantic textile park in Kazipet. He will also speak at a massive public meeting in the district organised by the Telangana BJP.

The visit is likely to increase the BJP’s visibility and support in Telangana ahead of the 2018 Assembly elections. The Arts College grounds in Hanmakonda have been offered as the location for the public gathering.

The laying of the foundation stone for the railway waggon overhauling plant in Kazipet is considered as a crucial step by the BJP to offset the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party’s accusation that the national government has not kept its commitments to Telangana. The factory was given to Telangana in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014, and the BRS government has accused the Modi government of breaking its pledge.

PM Modi previously visited Telangana in April and launched several projects worth over Rs. 11,300 crore, including railways, road connections, and health infrastructure development. The impending visit is part of the Maha Jan Sampark Abhiyan, a BJP effort to honour nine years of the Modi administration that was previously postponed.
