Procure Farm Produce: Niranjan Tells Action Against Millers for Irregularities

Stating that Telangana bus contributing half of the national agricultural production, Telangana Agriculture Minister, S Niranjan Reddy today said that the government will procure paddy and grains from farmers.

There is no need for panic to the farmers who can sell their crops at the purchase centers.  He also said that arrangements being made to procure more stocks of farm products when there is more production.

The minister warned of serious action against the Millers if tried to loot the farmers.  From his minister’s quarters residence, Niranjan Reddy said that the Millers should follow the instructions of the agricultural officials.  He asked that the officials should take action against the Millers for improper weighing and irregularities if any. There shall not be any inconvenience to the farmers to get the fertilizers the minister said.

The minister instructed the officials to monitor procurement and payment of bills. There reports that some millers are resorting to cutting the weight and causing loss to the farmers. He was responding to complaints by some farmers in the previous Mahabub Nagar district and other districts that the crops are not being bought by the officials.  Despite rain causing loss to crops, they face problems for about 5 to 7 days to sell their produce. The agricultural officials should monitor proper transportation, marketing, payment on time during the lockdown period following Covid norms Niranjan Reddy said.

The minister stated that officials concerned will guide the Millers and staff at purchase centers to buy the crops and farmers have to bring better quality products.  He instructed the officials to ensure bills paid without delay by procuring the farm produce.

Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is for proving the best support to all farmers. Our farmers are getting financial assistance and power supply. Our state is noted for Rythu Bandhu, Bhima besides marketing, and Rythu Vedikas to get better agricultural practices.

Our farmers will sure get benefits through the pro-farmer policies of the Government,  he claimed. He instructed the officials concerned to ensure that buffer stocks of fertilizers and supply them to farmers.

The minister said that the Centre has allotted 25.50 lakh metric tons of fertilizers to Telangana. Right now the state has 6.65 lakhs metric tons of fertilizer stocks including 3.73 lakhs MT Urea and 2.92 lakh MT others he said. He instructed for more and new godowns are being made available in all districts. The minister asked the civil supplies, agriculture, and others to coordinate to supply adequate stocks to all districts.
