Rachakonda Police implement special drives to tackle traffic issues

As per the latest reports, Rachakonda Police have implemented special drives aimed at easing traffic congestion and ensuring pedestrian safety in order to provide relief to pedestrians and motorists.

Since mid-October, the Rachakonda Police have been conducting such special drives to clear encroachments, particularly from the pavements on busy thoroughfares. The police had launched a special drive last week to clear encroachments in Saroornagar and LB Nagar.

“We booked 21 cases against establishment owners who encroached on pavements or roads and have initiated action against them. Similarly, counseling is also being given to such shopkeepers,” Rachakonda DCP (Traffic), D Srinivas said.

Local Inspectors have identified several busy road stretches, and frequent drives will be taken to clear the encroachments.

“As a result of encroachments of pavements, pedestrians are forced to use roads to move around. Due to which it is creating a risk for pedestrians and also leading to traffic slowdowns on the main roads,” he explained.

It is also worth noting that the traffic police have also increased their efforts against traffic rule violators and initiated action against them. A special drive was launched against errant motorists who were violating the registration number plate norms.

“Cases under various IPC sections are being booked at local law and order police stations. The vehicle is seized for violation of number plate norms,” D Srinivas said.

As per the reports, Rachakonda Police recently conducted a two-day special drive, during which 1,541 people were reportedly booked for using faulty number plates, driving without a license, and using TR number plates after their validity period had expired.

The DCP also stated that traffic officers have taken up special drives to check for various other traffic violations such as drunken driving, triple riding, and helmet violations.
