Although much of the roads were handed over to private agencies under Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program (CRMP), the situation remained unchanged as threat keep on lurking at people especially the road users while travelling on perilous roads full of with potholes and Rajendranagar is one among the areas to be taken up as a case in point.
Most of the roads, which are managed under CRMP in Rajendranagar, are reeling in awful state as several stretches have filled will oversize potholes putting the commuters’ life into jeopardy. Last year road works were taken up in six circles such as Charminar, Falaknuma, Rajendranagar, Malakpet, Santoshnagar and Chandrayangutta in Charminar Zone under Comprehensive Road Maintenance Program (CRMP).
Under the program a total 100 kilometres of road works in the entire Charminar Zone have been awarded to MVR Infra Projects Private Limited in which Rajendranagar area accounts for a work share of around 28.7 kilometres.
Last year, the CRMP official in Charminar Zone revealed that they have completed over 50 percent works especially in Rajendranagar that includes 6 kilometres of the whole one side stretch from Pillar No. 117 to Pillar No.318 Aram Ghar cross road. Similarly, a two kilometres stretch from Durga Nagar Junction to Moghal Engineering College has also been completed. While the work for the 1.8 kilometres stretch from Danamma Huts to Aramghar cross road was already done with line markings on the road.
However, there were several roads especially in Kattedan area and from Aram Ghar to Attapur stretch still pending which are considered very busy roads in the areas. Moreover, there were complaints that roads are not being maintained properly that often leading to several incidents especially in Rajendranagar wherein some are even fatal in nature and Katedhan mishap is a case in point. Complaints are also pouring in from Aram Ghar to Attapur stretch where works under CRMP is still pending since a long.
