A remarkable milestone has been reached at the government maternity hospital, Mata Shishu Sanrakshan Kendra in Wanaparthy district, with the delivery of 32 newborns in a single day.
On August 20, the hospital broke its own two-month-old record when a team of medical experts, including doctors and gynecologists, performed 16 C-sections and 16 regular deliveries.
All mothers and newborns are said to be in good health.Previously, in January 2023, the Jangaon government hospital made a Telangana record by delivering 35 infants in a single day, the highest in the state to that point.
This feat breaks the previous record of 33 deliveries (16 C-sections and 17 regular deliveries) set by the Siddipet Maternal and Child Welfare Hospital in 2018.
The rate of maternity deliveries in government hospitals in Telangana has increased from 30% in 2014 to 66% in 2023. Despite the fact that the national average is 79 percent, the state has seen a considerable increase in institutional births, rising from 91 percent to 99 percent. This development highlights the fact that the great majority of childbirths in Telangana currently take place in hospitals.
