Relax conditions for Ganesh idols immersion: GHMC urges HC

State Government today urged the High Court to give relaxation to its orders with regard to Ganesh idol’s immersion in Hussain Sagar. The government assured of removing the debris after immersion. The government said that if the restrictions are not eased chaos may prevail in the city as the Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi  (BGUS) called to conduct protests against the conditions, the court should consider and relax its orders.

On behalf of the government, GHMC Commissioner Lokesh Kumar urged the court to relax the conditions barring immersion of Plaster of paris idols, immersion point from tank bund, temporary rubber dams, and use of colour idols. Since the organizers already shifted the idols by the time the orders came in from the court there was no chance to make arrangements in advance, he said.

The civic body chief has also stated that within one day of immersion related debris will be removed. Not allowing immersion on the Tankbund side will take six days to complete the process. As thousands of idols were set up at the pandals and the officials arranged cranes and necessary arrangements for smooth immersion in advance.
