Resolve problems of people in Assembly: Speaker Srinivas Reddy

Hyderabad: Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy today extended greetings to people on the occasion of 70th Republic Day celebrations that were conducted on a grand note. The Speaker hoisted national flag on the Assembly premises after paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and Dr Ambedkar.

Speaking to mediapersons, the Speaker said the Republic Day was celebrated across the country by all people, irrespective of caste and religion. He sought to work towards addressing disparity among poor and rich as only 30 per cent people have most of the wealth. “Constitution shows path for the country to achieve development, which got freedom after a long struggle for decades. Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was implementing welfare schemes and development programs and completing projects. Works at Kondapochamma Sagar, which I visited on Friday were going on speedily. Some 2.85 lakh acres will be irrigated under the project in three months and 3.78 crore cm work of removing soil was done which is a record in six months”, he noted.

“Our nation is great for its diversity in unity wherein people follow different religions and respect Bhagvad Gita, Khuran and Bible. Constitution provides people with all rights and freedom to do their work and participate in national development”. The speaker appealed to the leaders to avoid politics in the Assembly and work together for development and welfare. He said the Assembly is a place for resolving problems and issues of public. He also appealed to the people to vote for right candidates and protect democracy and its values. “Constitution is vital for protecting democracy all and we have to work for development and avoid disparities among sections”, he added.  (NSS)
