Rs 50,000 each for four ailing scribes: Allam Narayana

Hyderabad: Press Academy chairman Allam Narayana today gave Rs 50,000 each to four ailing journalists of Karimnagar district.

Later, he informed the media that Journalists Welfare Fund was providing timely succor to the family members of journalists when they fell sick. The fund is proving handy, he said while paying Rs 2 lakh amount to the kin of working journalists. “So far, we have extended Rs 2.24 crore under the scheme to 224 families of the journalists in Telangana State, Narayana said.

The academy was offering Rs 3,000 pension to the kin of deceased journalists for five years besides Rs 1,000 towards tuition fees to 144 students from Class I to X. He also said Rs 50,000 was offered to kin of 83 journalists, who are seriously ill. “We have also provided financial assistance to kin of 19 journalists in combined Khammam district and 11 others, who are seriously ill”, he added.
