Sajjanar discusses situation on Covid-19

Hyderabad: VC Sajjanar, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad along with Cyberabad Security Council, HYSEA and Head of IT companies addressed Media to convey the current situation on Covid-19. Nodal officer Sajjanar apprised the media representatives that a coordination committee has been formed involving Health Dept, GHMC, SCSC, HYSEA, ITE&C & Cyberabad Police.

The committee met earlier in the day and discussed key action items. Some of them include sharing of the list of private hospitals received from the Telangana Health Department, who agreed to do the initial screening and provide isolation facilities with all IT companies. Creation of awareness poster, specifically for IT employees with Do’s & Don’ts; Developing a Standard Operating Protocol document to be used by IT companies in case of any suspect case on how to deal with the situation. The scope of the document is to address steps involved in guiding the suspected case, persons around, premises sensitization, communication to neighboring occupants and the building management for further action

The daily Media bulletin received from the Health Department to be widely published. The Heads of IT companies present during the meeting represent almost 80% of the IT Industry from a human capital perspective,  shared their updates on the current situation with respect to their operations and preventive measures undertaken by them.

They also reported that attendance was quite normal in their respective campuses and that it is business as usual across their facilities in Hyderabad.   They thanked Nodal officer and SCSC, Hysea that the advisories shared by them from time to time have helped them a lot to deal with the situation and have been cascading the same to all their employees for their information. CP Sri Sajjanar requested all media representatives that they should validate any social media posts with him or SCSC prior to publishing the same.

Dr. Shankar, Director Preventive Health at Fever Hospital addressed the gathering and emphasized that masks including N-95 masks are not required to be worn by healthy persons and that it is useful for those who are ill and suspected for the virus. He also shared that Coronavirus spreads only if anybody is in close contact with an affected person within 1-foot distance or with personal contact whereas swine flu spreads even at 6 ft distance. All inbound travelers are screened at airports and advised for home isolation for 14 days and the IDSP team monitors them remotely by calling twice a day to check their symptoms.

IT Industry heads thanked media in terms of a broadcasting lot of safety measures and requested to join hands in telecasting only validated information duly verified by Nodal officer or SCSC.
