Second phase of Bandi Sanjay’s padayatra from April 14

The state BJP unit plans to conduct the second phase of ‘Praja Sangrama Yatra’ carried out by the party’s state president Bandi Sanjay Kumar from April 14 at Jogulamba Shakti Peetam temple in Alampur.

The month-long 380-km yatra will take Sanjay through 10 Assembly segments covering 112 villages in five districts. There will be a public meeting near the temple to flag off the yatra. On the final day of the yatra on May 13, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will be the chief guest at the public meeting to be conducted at Maheswaram in the city suburbs.

Union Ministers, the national general secretaries of the party, Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled States, and other senior leaders will attend the yatra.

The first phase of Sanjay’s yatra began in August 2021 at Sri Bhagyalakshmi temple at Charminar. It was completed in Husnabad within 36 days in October, covering 19 Assembly constituencies and half a dozen Parliamentary constituencies across eight districts.

Bandi Sanjay recently accused the TRS government of conspiring with middlemen and rice millers to make money off paddy procurement and divert the anger of farmers towards the Centre.

The farmers have nothing to do with boiled rice, according to Sanjay. They produce paddy, which the state government converts into rice and sends to the Centre, he added.

In an open letter to farmers in Telangana, Sanjay stated that by closing down the paddy procurement centre during yasangi (rabi) season, the state government is creating an inevitable situation for farmers to sell their produce to middlemen at a very low rate instead of minimum support price (MSP).

Knowing there would be unrest among farmers if MSP for their produce was not paid and that there might be agitation against the government, the ruling TRS leaders, backed by KCR, started a big drama by taking up agitation against the Centre, he said.
