Set Right Allocation in Nagarjuna Sagar Canals : ENC to Krishna Board

Telangana State Government today urged the Krishna Board officials to set right the imbalance in Nagarjuna Sagar water allocations through two canals.

Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) Muralidhar has written a letter to the Krishna Board to see that there is a huge disparity of water allocation among the two canals. The state government seeks to implement the agreement in 1952 done between Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad now he said. The state government urged the Board to Telangana in the Sagar water allocations through its canals, the ENC said.

Muralidhar informed that at 510 ft level in Nagarjuna Sagar, the left canal has 7899 cusecs of water allocation and the right canal has more at 24,606 cusecs. This imbalance has to be set right for equal justice among the two states, he maintained in the letter.

He also said that at 510 ft level the allocation of water has to be the same which is not so now. This disparity has to be adjusted equally by taking necessary steps and immediate action, the ENC said in the letter to the Krishna Board.
