Several days of rain forecast for Telangana by IMD

For the next four to five days, Telangana is likely to experience light to moderate rain in one or two places, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The synoptic situation indicates that the Telangana state is likely to have light to moderate rain in one or two places over the next four to five days under the influence of mainly westerlies and south-westerlies, said Dr. Nagaratna, Director of the Meteorological Center Hyderabad.

In Hyderabad and surrounding areas, clear skies are likely to prevail with light rains.

During the next three to four days, temperatures will likely be normal with plus or minus 2 degrees Celcius. There will be mostly clear skies with temperatures around 35 to 36 degrees Celcius, he said.

As a result of the state’s constant heavy rains, rivulets, reservoirs, and rivers overflowed earlier in July.

In light of the forecast of rain in the state in the next few days, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao asked officials to be prepared to take rescue and relief measures.

In response, the Chief Secretary conducted a teleconference with senior officials and district collectors and informed them about the threat of heavy to very heavy rainfall across the State. In his request, he asked them to ensure there are no human lives lost.

CM KCR also said that the government is prepared to handle any situation and instructed officials to remain vigilant.

Additionally, the river Godavari is overflowing from its birthplace at Trimbakeshwar in Maharashtra to the Bay of Bengal, and its tributaries are flooding as well.

He said that it is a testing time for the state administration to protect people from natural disasters. As a result, the entire administration should be on alert and take up rescue operations to prevent any loss of life. All kinds of assistance will be provided by the government, he said.
