Hyderabad: Cyberabad Police SHE Teams today organized a rally to create awareness on prevention of suicides on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day.
The rally was flagged off by Cyberabad CP VC Sajjanar, IPS. Speaking on the occasion, Sajjanar said suicide is preventable. There are warning signs, which are not noticed by family and friends. Depression is one of the most important reasons for committing suicide as 15 to 20% of those suffering from depression commit suicide.
Suicide is committed for failure in examinations, financial problems, work related stress, alcoholism, drug abuse, relationship issues.
Later, awareness was given to the SHE Teams on how to recognize the signs of suicide in complainants, on types of personalities, disorders in personalities, anti-social behavior. Anita Aley provided the awareness to the teams. The CP said, “People commit suicides for petty reasons and we should be able to prevent them from committing suicide. Instead they should be courageous and report any problems by dialing 100 or report to SHE Teams”.
C. Anasuya, DCP SHE Teams and WPC, Indira, Addl DCP WPC, Anita Amet, Clinical Psychologist working with Citizen hospitals and Margadarshak in SCSC and others participated in the program. (NSS)
