Sitharama project gets environmental clearance

Hyderabad: In a siginficant development, the Centre has accorded environmental clearance for the Sitharama Project in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. The project has already got forest clearance and the main environmental clearance came only to speed up the related works. With this, the Telangana Government which was according top priority for the projects has got a shot in its arm.

According to information, the Centre has already given forest clearance and now environmental clearance. Thus, the efforts of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao yielded results at Central level. When he had been to Delhi and stayed for a few days, the Chief Minister called on Union Minister for Forests and Environment Harshavardhan and sought his support for the speedy completion of the projects in Telangana.

KCR had also apprised the Union minister of the projects that will prove handy for the State to bring under irrigation one crore acres in the State over a period of time. Now the Telangana Government aims to complete this project by June 2019 and has been busy taking up the project works. On completion, the project will irrigate about as much as three lakh acres in Kothagudem, Wyra and Paler segments and boost agriculture production and help farmers become rich. (NSS)
