Some parts of Hyderabad to experience water supply disruption on Nov 2

There will be a 24-hour interruption to the drinking water supply in some parts of the city starting at 6 am on November 2 as ICRISAT repairs the Singur Phase-3 pipeline.

Among the affected areas are BHEL MIG Colony, BHEL LIG Colony, Chandanagar, Papi Reddy Colony, Rajiv Home, Nallagandla, Huda Colony, Gopanapalli, Mayuri Nagar, Madhapur, Gokul Plots, and Malaysian Township.

As a result, the water pressure within the boundaries of Borabanda Reservoir will be low. To avoid inconvenience, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board issued a press release urging people to conserve water.

978 colonies within ORR to receive water supply by March

Fresh water supply work is expected to be completed by March 2023 for nearly 978 colonies outside the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limit and within the Outer Ring Road (ORR).

The entire project will be completed by March 2023, according to Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board MD Dana Kishore. “While the construction of reservoirs is underway, the water distribution network will be built simultaneously so that there are no delays in the prestigious project,” said Dana Kishore during a review of the HMWS&SB-ORR Phase-II project.

Water was provided to 149 colonies of the Phase-II project, and the remaining 829 colonies are expected to receive water by March 2023.

The state government proposed the ORR Phase-II project to address decades-old water scarcity issues facing people living outside GHMC and within ORR.

Residents of these colonies have been demanding that the issue of water supply shortages be addressed once and for all since before statehood.

The Water Board has established camps in the colonies that are supplied with drinking water in order to strengthen the drinking water supply network in these areas and ensure that all households have a water connection.
