SpiceJet becomes first domestic airline to offer mid-air cab booking service

Passengers of SpiceJet will no longer have to wait in queues for cabs after landing at airports. In a new feature for its customers, the domestic airline has introduced cab bookings mid-air, even before landing.

The announcement made on Thursday mentioned that the option will be available through the complimentary entertainment application provided for passengers, SpiceScreen.

As an introductory feature, it is going to be rolled out at the moment only for the travellers arriving at Delhi airport from August 12th. The airline plans to include other airports including those in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Pune, Ahmedabad and Kolkata in a phased manner soon.

With this, SpiceJet becomes the first domestic airline to be providing this feature to passengers. Extra wait-time and hullaballoo at the airports following the arrival times will be cut down through the pre-landing cab-booking service.

Passengers can avail the service by logging on to SpiceScreen through the wireless network provided and book a cab. On confirmation, the booking OTP will be sent to them through WhatsApp, SMS and an automated inbound call confirmation on their mobile phone when they arrive at the airport. Flexible payment options will also be available with both cash and online transactions accepted at the end of the journey.

Launched in August 2020, SpiceScreen provides an in-flight entertainment service, accessible through any smartphone, tablet, or laptop of passengers.

Apart from the cab booking service, passengers will also get exclusive discounts of up to 10 percent with the lowest predetermined fares for their travel from the airport to their respective destinations. Moreover, cancellations due to any reason will not be charged to the passenger.

Carrying heavy luggage to the cab departure area will not be a trouble to be borne by the flyers anymore with the service’s aim to make last-mile connectivity simpler. Pickup points will be available right outside the arrival gate, SpiceJet said in its statement.

“With the launch of our industry-first SpiceScreen midair airport transfer service, we aim to elevate the customer experience to the next level,” Chairman and Managing Director of SpiceJet, Ajay Singh said further adding that the cabs will be present right near the pickup points, making it easier for passengers to board them.
