Hyderabad: The 102nd birth anniversary of first woman Prime Minister of the country and former Congress president Indira Gandhi was celebrated in a grand manner here on Tuesday. The Congress leaders from the State paid rich tributes at the statue of Indira Gandhi on the Necklace Road. Later they also paid rich tributes at the portrait of Indira Gandhi at the party headquarters Gandhi Bhawan.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, former PCC presidents V Hanumantha Rao, Ponnala Lakshmaiah, TPCC working president Kusuma Kumar, MLA Thoorpu Jayaprakash Reddy, former deputy chief minister Damodar Raja Narasimha, former minister Marri Shashidhar Reddy, City Congress president and former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, AICC secretary SA Sampath Kumar, AICC spokesperson Dasoju Sravan Kumar and several other party leaders took part in the program.
Speaking on the occasion, the Congress leaders recalled the services rendered by Indira Gandhi for the development of the country. They termed the former prime minister as the Iron Lady of India. (NSS)
