Supreme Court Dismisses Petitions Against CBSE, ICSE Class 12 Schemes

The Supreme Court recently dismissed petitions challenging the CBSE and the CICSE’s decision to cancel Class 12 board examinations. They also approved the assessment schemes proposed by the boards to evaluate the students.

SC Upholds CBSE, CICSE’s Decision for Class 12th

A bench of Justices A.M Khanwilkar and Dinesh Maheshwari said that there is no need to interfere with the scheme proposed by the CBSE and the ICSE. It takes into account the safety and concerns of all the students.

The top court further noted that the boards have taken a conscious decision to ensure that they consider the benefit of the larger public interest.

“We are not going to sit in judgment over it,” said the bench.

At the same time, the Supreme Court said that just because other boards have conducted examinations, doesn’t mean that CBSE and ICSE are also bound to do the same. The court said that they are independent boards and have take the decision to cancel the exams.

The top court dismissed all challenges to the assessment policies framed by the CBSE and the ICSE to evaluate class 12 students after the cancellation of exams.

SC Explains That CBSE, ICSE Schemes Are Formulated By Experts 

Further upholding the decision, the Supreme Court said that the schemes have been developed by expert body. The bench further said that the expert body considered all the aspects. After thorough research adn discussions, they formulated teh scheme with holistic approach.

“We will uphold the scheme as formulated by boards, which are independent boards and entitled to take decisions regarding exams to he conducted by them,” it said.

At the same time, the supreme court noted that the it is not possible to accpet the submissions made by the petitioners comparing other insitutions exams conduct with the CBSE and ICSE.
