Teaching, non-teaching staff to attend schools regularly from August 26

With all schools scheduled for resumption from next month, all the staff members are directed to regularize their attendance from August 26th in Telangana. The announcement was made by the School Education department with notices to the teaching and non-teaching to return to regular classroom teaching ahead of students’ slated date to ensure it is ready for them.

The teaching and non-teaching staff of state schools are currently working on alternate days. With the new announcement in place, private school staff too have to attend school every day.

The update for the reopening of schools for regular physical classes was made yesterday. The department directed these educational institutions to start classroom teaching from September 1st in a notice issued on Tuesday.

Attendance of non-teaching staff ahead of students’ return is to ensure the classrooms and surroundings are well-sanitized and prepared. The department ordered the District Education Officers to ascertain the cleanliness of the infrastructure and furniture of schools and hostel premises like benches, classrooms, floors, washrooms, handwash sinks, drinking water tanks, windows, overhead tanks, taps and more. This should be completed before August 30th as classes begin a day later. Along with these elements, the School Education body also directed the officials to ensure the availability of electricity in all schools.

However, schools are going to be reopened with all covid-19 norms in place for precautionary measures. As part of the same, face masks have to be compulsorily worn by every person in the school, including teachers, non-teaching staff and students. Social distancing will also have to be maintained. Headmasters of all schools have been told to ensure proper distancing between students in classrooms and to map out the seating according to the classroom size and student strength.

As the coronavirus is still a major risk posed to everyone, if a student is found with any symptoms of the infection like fever, he/she should be sent to a hospital at the earliest to get tested for covid-19, according to the instructions released. “If any child is found to be Covid positive, all students and staff of the school should be tested through both RTPCR and RAT tests,” it further read.

In schools providing mid-day meals, headmasters have been directed by the department to ensure that good quality rice and other ingredients are used to prepare the food. The Civil Supplies department’s fresh stock can be utilized, if need be, it said.

Meals should be given intermittently to avoid crowing, the department further said.
