Telangana Cabinet clears 6 Pvt universities, lifts GO 111

A few important decisions have been taken by the State Cabinet, including withdrawal of GO 111, recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff to universities, permitting five private universities in the State, and approving the appointment of medical college professors as Directors and Additional Directors of Medical Education.

GOMS 111: In view of long-pending petitions from landowners on humanitarian grounds, the Cabinet decided to revoke GO 111. 83 villages in seven mandals in Vikarabad and Ranga Reddy districts would benefit from this development. In 1996, GO 111 was issued to prevent pollution due to heavy construction activities and industrialization in the city by using the twin reservoirs of Osman Sagar and Himayath Sagar to meet the city’s drinking water requirements.

GOMS 111 is to be scrapped following the formation of a committee headed by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar, said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Various departments would be represented on the Committee, including MAUD, the Forestry Department, and other related agencies.
