Telangana assures support to farmers affected by unseasonal rainfall

Telangana’s agricultural sector appears to be in a difficult position due to unseasonal rainfall and hailstorms that are causing major crop damage. The state government, on the other hand, has guaranteed farmers of its support and aid during these trying times.

K.T. Rama Rao, state minister and working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), expressed worry about farmers’ losses and encouraged them not to panic. He promised that the government would provide all feasible help and asked authorities to be accessible on the ground. He also asked party MLAs and public representatives to visit their respective constituencies to assess the situation while working with local officials.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) directly visited the affected districts and evaluated the situation, assuring farmers that the state government will support them. He instructed the Chief Secretary to analyse agricultural losses and obtain comprehensive crop damage reports from District Collectors.

Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalar has told farmers that the KCR government will compensate them fully for their losses. Unseasonal rainfall and hailstorms destroyed crops on around 2.28 lakh acres in various regions of the state last month as well.

KCR had previously proposed a payout of Rs 10,000 per acre for affected farmers, but following a survey, the agricultural department decided to offer compensation only for 1.51 lakh acres. The funds will be sent to the accounts of 1,30,988 farmers.

The state government’s efforts to support farmers during this difficult period are commendable, and it is critical to offer assistance to the agricultural sector to ensure the state’s overall growth. Farmers, who are the backbone of our country, must be assisted in their times of need to ensure the agricultural sector’s sustained prosperity.
