Telangana government steps up its efforts to combat dengue

In response to the spike in dengue cases in Telangana, the state health department has stepped up efforts to combat the spread of the vector-borne disease.

A total of 1,827 dengue cases were reported within the GHMC limits in August, an increase from 542 in July. To combat the disease, nearly 1,600 entomology experts have been deployed by the civic body authorities.

In order to prevent mosquito breeding, all measures will be taken. Dengue tests should be performed at Basti Dawakhanas if anyone develops symptoms such as fever. In areas where dengue cases are high, medical personnel should conduct door-to-door fever surveys in coordination with GHMC officials, Health Minister Harish Rao said during a Monday review meeting.

Door-to-door fever surveys will be intensified in all corporations and booster Covid doses will be administered to as many individuals as possible.

The health department will conduct fever surveys in all municipal corporations of Telangana, including the GHMC, to curb dengue, chikungunya, and malaria cases.

MAUD Minister KT Rama Rao also attended the meeting. The ’10 minutes at 10 am’ program, which ensured there was no contaminated water around people’s houses over the last three years, has fetched good results, he said at the meeting.

In many urban centers of Telangana, dengue infections are on the rise, and it is time to launch an all-out war against mosquito breeding, said Health Minister Harish Rao and MA&UD Minister K T Rama Rao.

The officials were instructed to prepare a plan to eradicate the disease in areas where dengue cases are most prevalent.

Blood donation camp

Harish Rao, the state’s health minister, announced the state would organize a blood donation camp in Hyderabad and surrounding areas to provide free blood to the needy.

On the occasion of Swatantra Vajrotsavam, nearly 10,000 units of blood were collected. There are arrangements in place for patients to receive free blood.
