Telangana:Medicines Worth Rs 20.52 Lakh seized in illegal Godown

In a recent raid on an unregistered godown in Amberpet, officers from the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized medications worth Rs 20.52 lakh. The raid, which took place on January 18 and 19, also resulted in the confiscation of a large number of ‘Telangana Government Supply Drugs.’

The intelligence-based operation targeted a godown near Ali Cafe in Azad Nagar, which was run by Mohd. Basheer Ahmed without a valid narcotics license. The seized medicines contained 40 different types, including higher-generation antibiotics, pediatric syrups, anti-ulcer treatments, antibiotic injections, and antimalarial drugs.

The ‘Government Supply Drugs’ discovered in the godown were meant solely for distribution to government hospitals. Unauthorized stockpiling and sale of these medications is strictly forbidden by the medications and Cosmetics Act, with possible imprisonment for up to five years.

The labels on the drugs listed ‘Ashley Pharmatech Pvt. Ltd.’ as the marketer from New Delhi, with manufacturing locations in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. The accused, Mohd. Basheer Ahmed, acknowledged to providing drugs to medical shops in Telangana without necessary sales documents.

During the raid, samples of suspected fake or counterfeit medications were confiscated for future investigation. DCA officers, led by Drugs Inspector V Ajay of Goshamahal, are devoted to investigate unlicensed drug stockpiling and unlawful sales in Telangana. The authorities underline the necessity of following medication rules to protect public health and safety.
