The US Consulate in Hyderabad shows support for Ukraine

In support of Ukraine, the US Consulate General in Hyderabad has illuminated the Paigah Palace’s façade in blue and yellow.

Consul General Joel Reifman said in a statement issued here: “President Putin may be counting on the US and the international community to lose focus and move on, but we will not. We remain committed to and united in our support for Ukraine. There will be no relief from sanctions or other measures until Putin reverses course and relents in his brutal aggression against the people of Ukraine.”

Online classes commence for students evacuated from Ukraine

In other news, students who have returned to India from war-torn Ukraine are back in the classroom. “We started online classes today,” said Sohail, a student from the city’s Motinagar neighbourhood. Sohail, a third-year medical student at Dnipropetrovsk State Medical University, is relieved to be able to resume his studies, which were abruptly halted by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine on February 24.

After returning to India in an evacuation flight, it appeared that they would be unable to continue their studies, but online classes have now begun. Desharaju Sai Anirudh, a medical student who was evacuated from Ukraine, is relieved, as are the majority of the students.

Reaching the borders and boarding an evacuation flight to India from neighbouring countries was a difficult task, but all of that experience is now behind them. Anirudh of Siddipet, a fifth-year MBBS student at Zaporizhzhia State Medical University, now hopes to continue his education.

However, there are concerns for students in their sixth year of medical school. They must take what is known as the KROK examination. There are indications that the examination may be cancelled, and if this occurs, students will not be at a disadvantage. Otherwise, students would have been required to take the exam in person, which is impossible.
