Three people die after consuming the sanitizer in Andhra

Amaravati: Three people have died after consuming the sanitizer in the Kadapa Dist of Andhra Pradesh. On Friday as many as 13 people had died after consuming hand sanitizer at Kurichedu and Pamooru villages in Prakasham district. Most of the deceased were baggers and laborers. 10 persons died at Kurichedu village and three died at Pamooru village. In a new case, three people have died in the Penlimurri area of Kadapa Dist after consuming the sanitizer. Sources revealed that the deceased had been consuming the hand sanitizers for the last few days as liquor was not available.

One of the two people who consumed the sanitizer yesterday died on the spot while the other died while receiving treatment at Rims Hospital, another one died at home this morning. The police seized the empty bottles of sanitizers which the deceased consumed and sent them to the laboratory for medical analysis.

Locals identified six people who had been drinking sanitizer in the area for days a week and informed authorities. The victim’s family members pointed out that the drug addicts are consuming the sanitizer as they cannot afford the price of alcohol and the liquor was not available for the last few days as well. Police have registered a case and undergoing the investigating of this incident.

Sanitizers were widely available during the corona period in the various areas of this Telugu State and people stored them for intoxication. The deceased were identified as Chinna Keshavlu, Bhimaya, and Obulesh. Obulesh died while receiving treatment at Rims. Bhimaya died near his house and his body was shifted to Rims for autopsy.

It is learned that the number of people who lost their lives due to drinking sanitizer in Prakasam district has reached 16.  It may be recalled that this is the second case in the state in a week wherein the people have died after consuming the sanitizer.
