Tight security imposed near theatres screening ‘The Kerala Story’ in Hyderabad

The Kerala Story is currently being shown in theaters and multiplexes and Hyderabad City Police have increased security near them. The decision was made to prevent any undesirable incidents during or after the movie screening.

A police officer from Kachiguda Police Station confirmed that constables are being stationed at theaters in Hyderabad showing “The Kerala Story” to ensure the public’s safety and security.

‘The Kerala Story’ controversy

‘The Kerala Story’ has been in the news since the release of its trailer because of its alleged communal content. The film’s creators have updated the text of the film’s introduction in its latest YouTube teasers in the midst of the raging controversy.

The previous text mentioned that around 32,000 women have gone missing from Kerala. The latest version, however, claims that three women were converted and brainwashed before being sent on terror missions in India and abroad.

When the movie, starring Adah Sharma, implied that 32,000 women had left the state, it sparked a heated debate. As a result, a petition asking for a ban on the movie’s screening was submitted to the Kerala High Court.

However, the High Court noted that “nothing is going to happen” in a secular state like Kerala. The court ruled that after looking at the teaser and the film preview, it was clear that there was no animosity toward any particular religion, and Islam was not portrayed in poor light. The court also remarked that there have been several films in the country that refer to IS.

The Kerala State Committee of Muslim Youth League has offered a reward of Rs 1 crore to anyone who can provide evidence to support the claims made in the film.
