TITA, Dept of Culture launches TCulture app to give ID cards to artisans

Hyderabad: Various artisans in the State will be given a special identity card that will help them access the various welfare schemes of the Government.  For this, the Department of Language and Culture has partnered with software engineers’ industry body Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) to give the special identity card through an app called TCulture. TITA members devised the app while the data pertaining to the artisans is being put together by the Department of Culture.

Tourism, Culture and Youth Affairs Minister V Srinivas Goud launched the app on Friday to coincide with the birthday celebrations of IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao. Minister has presented the first identity card to the Department of Language & Culture Director  Mamidi Harikrishna. Launching the app, Goud said that Hyderabad has been doing well in the IT-sphere. The launch of TCulture app to coincide with the birthday of IT Minister is a fitting tribute to the good work the IT Minister is doing for IT, Industries and the Brand Hyderabad, Goud said.

Speaking at the launch, Matkhala said the app removes the need for any middlemen or intermediaries for getting the identity cards. The requests can be made online through the app and the same will be processed and an online identity card will be generated. The same can be collected from Mee Seva outlets and the process will take about a month.  In places where Mee Seva outlets are not present, TITA’s Digithon volunteers will help the artisans in getting the identity cards.

Telangana State has been wanting to give identity cards to the artisans for some time now. The Department of Culture has been working on this for a year now. The identity card will secure details like name, place of birth, area of expertise and others from the database created by the Department of Culture, said its director Mamidi Harikrishna. These will help the artisans to know about and access the various schemes and benefits available to them.  He expressed happiness about the fruition of efforts now.

Makthala said the app will be available from Monday onwards. TITA representatives Rana Pratap Bojjam and Srikanth Uppala played a key role in development of TCulture app.
