Hyderabad/San Francisco: Telangana Information Technology Association (TITA) global president Sundeep Kumar Makthala, who was currently traveling in the US, Canada and Mexico, visited schools, colleges and universities there to understand the education system and innovations happening there. He will soon submit his recommendations to the Telangana government to strengthen the Education system and standards by taking transformative steps.
The TITA will make specific suggestions to the State government on improving educational standards. Makthala visited Stanford University in San Francisco and Washington University in Seattle as part of his US tour. Sharing the experience at the Stanford University, Makthala said, that university spread across 9,000 acres is a place where Apple founder Steve Jobs and Microsoft founder Bill Gates studied. The university also house Google’s first server and a massive library with eight lakh books. The varsity also focuses on creating startups and nurturing entrepreneurs with tailor-made programs. It has also allowed students to continue education even if they have failed in an academic year, with a clear push on practical knowledge. World’s successful entrepreneurs have emerged despite being drop outs from their academics.
Under the US education system, a child needs to attain 5 years to be admitted in a school. The children join KG at the age of 5 and go through elementary schooling for five years and enters mid-school that continues for three years, and then step into high school from 9th to 12th grade. Innovation begins at high school level. In the Indian education, students look for options after 10th class while in the US, specialization begins after 12th. With the emphasis on practical exposure, schools encourage students to work on practical worksheets. The schools take responsibility of the transportation of students. They also create Play Zones to encourage sports, Makthala added. (NSS)
