TPCC Begins Accepting Assembly Election Ticket Applications in Telangana

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has begun accepting applications from those seeking Assembly election tickets. A. Revanth Reddy, president of the TPCC, said that applications will be accepted from August 18 to August 25. The applications will be assessed, and a survey will be undertaken to determine the odds of successful candidates.

The candidates that have been shortlisted will be given to a screening committee, which will subsequently forward the names that have been chosen to the party’s central election committee for further consideration. The topic will be brought to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) for a final decision if necessary.

Revanth Reddy further stated that the application fee is Rs. 50,000, with a reduced charge of Rs. 25,000 for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes applicants. The TPCC chief underlined that electoral alliance decisions will be decided by the party’s top leadership.

Previously, the Congress party constituted a screening committee for Telangana, which met for the first time in Hyderabad. This committee, led by K. Muralidharan, will help choose candidates for the elections.

Telangana’s Assembly elections are set to take place in November and December of this year. The Congress party gained 18 seats in the 119-member Assembly in the previous 2018 elections, however some MLAs switched to other parties following the results.
