Trainee aircraft crashes near Hyderabad

In a devastating incident, an Indian Air Force (IAF) Pilatus PC 7 Mk-II trainer aircraft crashed in the Ravelli village of Toopran in Telangana’s Medak district, about 60 km from Hyderabad, resulting in the fatalities of both the trainee and instructing pilot.

The ill-fated aircraft had taken off from the Dundigal Air Force Academy for a routine training sortie. The IAF promptly shared information about the accident on the microblogging site X, confirming that both pilots on board the Pilatus PC 7 Mk II had sustained fatal injuries. Fortunately, no damage to civilian life or property has been reported.

The IAF has initiated a Court of Inquiry to investigate and determine the cause of the tragic accident. As of now, there are no reports of damage to civilian life or property.

Expressing condolences, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to X, stating, “Anguished by this accident near Hyderabad. It is deeply saddening that two pilots have lost their lives. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with the bereaved families.”

According to local Media, the aircraft was swiftly engulfed in flames, reducing it to ashes within minutes. Local residents are uncertain about the number of people aboard the IAF aircraft at the time of the crash.
