Tripura Engulfed In Protests As Buddist Monastry Attacked In Bangladesh

As per the latest reports, individuals from five tribal associations of Tripura held a dissent on Monday before Bangladesh Assistant High Commission here censuring the assault and burning of the Katakhali Forest Buddhist Monastery under Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar area in the adjoining country.

A joint statement of the five tribal associations on Monday said that somewhere around 8 native people, including ladies, having a place with the Chakma people group were harmed during the assault on October 24.

These associations presented a reminder to Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheik Hasina through Assistant High Commissioner Mohammad Jobayed Hosen.

The reminder said that the assault on the Katakhali Forest Buddhist Monastery occurred following a progression of occurrences of defacement and pyro-crime of Hindu sanctuaries, Durga Puja pandals and assaults on Hindu minorities from October 13, which shows that the public authority of Bangladesh has not taken any action to guarantee security of the strict minorities in the country.

“This is on the grounds that the public authority of Bangladesh as on date has neglected to rebuff the people who annihilated 19 Buddhist sanctuaries and around 100 houses at Ramu, Cox’s Bazar and Patiya of Chittagong in 2012,” the notice said.

These associations in their statement said: “The Bangladesh government has the obligation to secure the life, property and right of the strict minorities to rehearse their religion.”

The tribal associations requested to welcome the culprits of the assault on the Katakhali Forest Buddhist Monastery and assault on somewhere around eight native people having a place with the Chakma people group to equity and guarantee arraignment of the individuals who annihilated 19 Buddhist sanctuaries and around 100 houses at Ramu, Cox’s Bazar and Patiya of Chittagong in 2012 through quick track courts.

The tribal associations which held the exhibition on Monday incorporate Chakma National Council of India, Chakma Buddhist Welfare Society, Young Chakma Association, Tripura Chakma Students Association and Tripura Rejjyo Chakma Gabuchya Joda.
