TRS campaign in Munugode to include 100 MLAs and MPs

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) will do its utmost to win the Munugode Assembly seat in the impending by-election caused by the resignation of the Congress MLA.

There is likely to be a bitter triangular fight in the constituency as the ruling party launches its election campaign on September 15.

With a view to defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at any cost, TRS will stop at nothing to achieve Mission Munugode.

The BJP is keen on scoring a hat-trick of by-poll victories after taking Dubbak and Huzurabad away from TRS in 2020 and 2021, respectively. Major players view the Munugode contest as a semi-final ahead of the Assembly elections next year.

Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy, who switched loyalties to the BJP, resigned from the seat.

On August 21, he joined the BJP at a public meeting in Munugode addressed by union home minister Amit Shah.

A day before BJP’s rally, K Chandrasekhar Rao addressed a public meeting in the constituency to entrust the TRS campaign to 100 MLAs, MLCs, and MPs.

From September 15, these leaders will hit the campaign trail. A ’50-day action plan has been prepared by the party.

During the next 50 days, the party will mobilize 1,500 leaders and workers to cover all mandals, villages, and municipalities.

TRS expects the Election Commission of India (ECI) to announce poll notifications by the end of September, and by-elections to be held by October.

TRS leaders from the united Nalgonda district already had a meeting with Rao to chalk out the party’s strategy.

Energy minister G Jagadish Reddy will oversee the party’s campaign in Munugode with the help of the MLAs, MLCs, and other leaders.

The party campaign will be carried out in two villages by each MLA. It is expected that 88 MLAs will camp in the constituency.

There are 103 MLAs, 36 MLCs, and 17 MPs in the ruling party. The campaign will utilize the services of at least 100 of them. They will be responsible for campaigning in 100 units (villages or wards).

Every MLA, MLC, and MP will bring 15 party members to Munugode for the campaign. Door-to-door, they will interact with voters and beneficiaries of state government schemes. Assistive programs will also be distributed by the leaders.

The TRS has also not yet announced its candidate for the by-election, like the Congress. In light of the BJP’s increased efforts to capture power in the state, the ruling party’s focus on Munugode is significant.
