TRS leaders meet Governor Tamilisai on Paddy row

A team of TRS leadership including Ministers, MPs, MLAs today sought the intervention of Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on paddy row.

Led by MP Keshava Rao and Agriculture Minister Niranjan Reddy, Kamalakar and others visited Raj Bhavan. They called on Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan and urged to press the Centre to get paddy grains.

Later talking to media persons at Raj Bhavan, Niranjan Reddy said that they urged the Governor to recommend the center to address paddy row. She expressed concern on the paddy row and offered to help us, he said.

The Governor said that there should not be any confusion among the farmers on the issue, he said. Reddy also said that the Governor informed them that she will send a letter to the Centre to give clarity and help the farmers clear the rice stocks. We hope that the Governor will address the letter as we submitted a memorandum and appealed personally.

She responded positively to find an amicable solution, Niranjan Reddy said. We gave the representation to the Governor on the issues raised by the Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao during the Maha Dharna, the Minster said.

He alleged the Centre was trying to misguide the people as there is no clarity. The Centre has to clarify whether it will clear rice stocks from the state. We produce about 1.50 lakh mt of paddy grains in about 70 lakh acres in the state.

Where the food grains go if the centre failed to take them, he asked. Why the Modi Government buys Punjab rice and not the same from our state, he expressed displeasure.

Niranjan Reddy expressed displeasure on a reaction by the Centre to clear some stocks and not the boiled rice from the state. We the TRS leaders will not relent and continue our protests and fight for the cause of the farmers, he maintained.
