TRS leaders seek CPI support in Huzurnagar by-poll

Hyderabad : TRS secretary-general and Rajya Sabha member K Keshav Rao today visited Makhdoom Bhavan, CPI State headquarters, and met the CPI leaders seeking its support.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Keshav Rao said he approached the CPI leaders at the instance of party supremo and Chief Minister K  Chandrashekhar Rao and sought their support in the Huzurnagar Assembly bye-election. He said the CPI leaders appeared to be willing to do so during the deliberations. Keshav Rao  said he told the CPI leaders that he approached them after knowing that the left party was not contesting the bye-election in Huzurnagar. He said that he also made it clear to the CPI leaders that though they (TRS leaders) were not hardcore Communists, the ruling party was delivering goods to people on par with the leftist ideology. Dr Keshav Rao said the CPI leaders raised the issues like uranium mining, changes in Revenue Act, pattas to cultivators of podu lands and so on.

CPI to take decision on Oct. 1: Chada

In a separate press conference, CPI State secretary Chada Venkat Reddy said the ruling TRS and his party were old friends during the separate State movement but they parted due to differences between them after formation of Telangana State. Stating that TRS senior leaders Keshav Rao, Vinod Kumar and Nama Nageshwara Rao met them at State party office and sought support in the Huzurnagar by-election, Venkat Reddy said he told them that the party executive committee would meet on October 1 and disclose their decision after a discussion. He also said he told the TRS leaders that they want the ruling party to function in a democratic manner. (NSS)
