TRS passes resolution with aim to tackle religious intolerance

The TRS is committed to safeguarding national integrity and preserving the country’s unique culture by combating religious intolerance.

On Wednesday, the TRS plenary acknowledged that religious intolerance is weakening the country in all aspects. In its call for unity, the party urged people to oppose the ‘barbaric acts’ perpetrated by some political forces and spread a message of peace, love and equality.

According to Telangana State Planning Board vice-chair B Vinod Kumar, communal politics presented by the BJP government are dangerous to the country’s future. He condemned the statement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah calling for a uniform civil code. All the laws except the Family Law were the same for people of all religions, he explained.

The resolution was seconded by MLC P Venkatram Reddy.

TRS also demanded that the Centre enhance the quotas in education and employment for deserving communities according to their social conditions. According to the ruling party, Muslims should have a 12% quota rather than the current 4%. The ST reservations should additionally be increased to 10%.

The party also asserted that a constructive role for TRS is needed at the national level in order to fill the political void. The party vowed to bring a qualitative change in the country along the lines of Telangana’s “desirable results” in education, irrigation, health and economic sectors.

TRS called for the country to be freed from the evil forces and to be freed of bulldozer rule and divide and rule policies adopted by rulers.

In terms of the paddy procurement issue, the TRS has expressed gratitude to the Telangana government for procuring paddy in the current season. The party has also criticised the Central government for not being able to resolve the paddy procurement issue amicably.
